For more than two decades, Child Aid has worked to improve the quality of education in Guatemala’s indigenous communities. From the start, we recognized the link between illiteracy and systemic poverty, and saw the possibility to make a lasting impact in children’s lives through education.
Project Somos is an eco-sustainable Learning Village near Tecpan, Guatemala that aims to break the cycle of poverty. The Project consists of an education center and a fruit and vegetable farm, providing programming to children from the surrounding communities who were falling through the cracks of the Guatemala education system and forgotten, far from the popular areas of Guatemala. The Project knows that's healthy eating, education children can help break the cycle of poverty for future generations in Guatemala.

Since 2003, Education For The Children has worked with the young people and families from Jocotenango, Guatemala to access free quality education, nutritious food, health and social services. We empower them with skills to be successful and inspire future generations.
Since 2009, LWH has nurtured an education ecosystem, connecting green construction, formal education, equitable international volunteerism, and active participation in 21st century problem-solving. Over the last decade, the LWH builders, staff, volunteers, and donors have transformed 550 tons of trash into a fully functioning K-11 school. In 2019, 77 K-6 students, 51 grade 7-11 students, 27 Teachers/Directors, and 9 builders were direct beneficiaries of CETC employment and education.
