Lan Vwa began when our founder went to Haiti to help deliver aid after an earthquake and became involved in educational efforts. Our name translates to “the voice” in Haitian Creole, reflecting our efforts to return what poverty has stolen from citizens of developing areas - their voice. As Lan Vwa grew, successful programs have been implemented in Haiti and Guatemala. By connecting communities to educational access and tools, we hope to continue empowering our students to fulfill their dreams and potential.
DiverArte Guatemala is a private, non-profit, apolitical, social-type Civil Association that promotes processes of artistic awareness, from the opening of spaces for the defense and promotion of human rights, with the purpose of contributing to the eradication of contexts of stigma and discrimination that are derived from behaviors of violence directed towards Guatemalan children, adolescents and youth.
As a biblical Dutch foundation, Woord en Daad, together with local partners and actors from relevant sectors, connects people worldwide. CVG provides a space for articulation, development and promotion of voluntary activity in Guatemala. Revive Amatitlán is dedicated to reviving lake Amatitlán. Our first step was a 2017 pilot in which thousands of fish were created, fish eggs covered artificial spawning beds and in which 4 meters of sludge was bio-eliminated.
Like many other Latin American countries that share the Pacific and Caribbean coastline, Guatemala is experiencing a crisis of development and overfishing, exacerbated by the lack of opportunities, income alternatives and the scarcity of scientific knowledge about the true state of the different fishery resource populations, mainly chondrichthyans. Faced with this situation, Mundo Azul Foundation has initiated its efforts to generate scientific information that advances the level of knowledge about sharks, rays and other fisheries.
