Mission, vision & values

Mission

The mission of Wings Guatemala is to provide education and services for sexual heath and reproduction to young adults and vulnerable women and men, specifically in rural areas.

Vision

Our vision is a Guatemala where everyone has and can exercise reproductive rights.

Sexual and reproductive health. The high rate of unintended pregnancies, especially in rural women and adolescents, and high rate of cervical cancer cases.

Impact, adaptations & objectives

Impact to date

Through our programs we have served more than 315,000 people since 2001. We estimate that we have prevented more than 286,000 unintended pregnancies, 1,614 infant deaths, and 103 maternal deaths.

Impact measuring

Using the Marie Stopes International Impact2 tool we estimate the impact based on unintended pregnancies prevented, infant and maternal deaths prevented, unsafe abortions prevented; and with the Couple Year's of Protection index we estimate the # of CYPs provided annually.

We have grown from 2 employees to 54.

We have grown in geographic attention, currently serving 14 departments.

Key offerings

Our services and programs have been changing as we see the need to fulfil our mission. Currently everything is related to sexual and reproductive health: both education and services.
