Primary issue(s) / need(s) addressed

Social economic issues.

I was born in Antigua, Guatemala. I grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. Certain issues in Boston, were of social economic type issues.
Strong community organizations were the reason why Boston is now the City that it is. Currently the community leaders and residents that were part of the change, can no longer afford to live in Boston proper. I am witnessing the same social economic problem here in Antigua, Guatemala, so thats why we focus on this issue.

Impact, adaptations & objectives

Impact to date

We are working to empower local community leaders in San Felipe de Jesús, Los Llanos, Parramos and Tzunana, Solola to help create change from within.

Organizational adaptations
This is an organic project
Organizational adaptation details

We aim to learn about the issues in each community and then work on them together as a community.

We believe that keeping an open dialogue and being open to change is what makes us different. We appreciate the community feedback and we shape our objectives around them.

Short term objectives

Quality

We keep an open dialogue with each community so we may use all available resources before we suggest any of our own.

Long term objectives

Impact

We hope to change peoples minds about the need to emigrate by helping them better their lives in their own communities. Quality of life is the most important lesson.
