SECCATID provides care services for people with drug addiction problems. Services are free of charge to people who present problematic consumption of some psychoactive substance and who come to the center voluntarily. It also serves users who are referred by other government programs, courts, NGOs, among others, covering the entire national territory.

Mission

Our mission is to strengthen ourselves as the State institution of Guatemala that comprehensively addresses the issue of drugs and addictions, through different programs based on scientific evidence and aimed at prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and reintegration, with the welfare of each individual at the center of all.

Vision

Our vision is to consolidate our position as the State institution committed to responding to the urgent, complex and multi-causal phenomenon of drugs and addictions, involving the entire population and different sectors of the country, and to support the holistic development of all Guatemalans.

Products, services, and programs

Products

We provide educational program materials such as workbooks, and textbooks are provided for teachers teaching our programs.

Services

We have an Outpatient Treatment Center which works with a specialized group of psychologists, a psychiatrist, and is provides services completely free of charge.

Programs

We offer prevention program services in schools involving drug consumption awareness activities. The My First Steps Program, aimed at 6-year-old school children, teaches teachers from public or private institutions so that they can run the program during the school year. This program also has an agreement with the Ministry of Education to be able to run it. Our Lions Quest Program has a similar focus, but is aimed at students in sixth grade, first and second grade.

The prevention of the consumption of tobacco, alcohol and drugs, as the governing body of the national policy on drugs, through the substantive areas of the Prevention Directorate, the Outpatient Treatment Center and the National Observatory on Drugs.

We provide coverage in the 22 departments of Guatemala, through the community prevention program by 2019, coverage was provided to 6,933 people in general.

The infrastructure of this building despite being a colonial-type structure, and rented, is located in a central area of ​​the country in zone 10 in the capital.

Through the national policy on drugs the coverage has been further expanded as well as the focus for the beneficiaries, reinforcing the mission and vision of the Prevention Directorate and its substantive areas, such as the Outpatient Treatment Center and the National Observatory on Drugs.

To be able to maintain coverage, at the national level, hoping that the Prevention Directorate team will expand in human resources, seeking the growth and positioning of the Prevention Programs and the SECCATID.
