We provide a camp service to public and NGO´s and private schools. Because of COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to provide these camps in 2020.
We offer the Journey to the Forest Program. The core of our work is inviting vulnerable and disadvantaged children to be part of an expansive, inspiring, and mentoring educational experience in our unique forest camp, locate d in the Highlands of Guatemala, overlooking the famous Lake Atitlan.
Our Food Aid program aims to supply basic and nutritive food provisions to as many families as we could during this year, 2020. We have and will continue to have monthly distributions of 200 food-aid packages throughout the urban and rural areas of Sololá Department, where our Camp facility is located.
Niños del Lago, through motivational, educational and health programs, strengthens the full development of Guatemalan children, thus eliminating negative circles of thought and habits, which helps to broaden the general perspective of the child about their environment and encourages them to become agents of change in their communities and country.
The high levels of inequality in Guatemala that promote poverty and extreme poverty due to the little or no access to basic services, food and opportunities that its inhabitants have.
The impact of Niños del Lago has been to motivate Guatemalan children to dare to take advantage of opportunities, foster their self-confidence and develop their potential to become positive agents of change in their communities.
Every year, Niños del Lago serves an average of 200 children in rural areas with its "A trip to the forest" program, and in response to the food crisis caused by the pandemic, through its "Food Aid" program, it benefits more than 1200 families with the delivery of packages containing nutritious staple foods.
The beneficiaries of our programs at the end of their participation are able to assess their actions to project their future with self-confidence and promote their school year satisfactorily.
We measure our impact based on written and oral evaluations through discussion and follow-up groups that yield quantitative data and that evaluate the actions of the participants by identifying the needs in their environment and the importance of their actions for the benefit of conflict resolution.
