Nelixia’s focus is to create sustainable natural ingredients for the perfume industry, flavors, aromas, and spices. We challenge the way the industry works to impact through empowerment, uplifting communities and the biodiversity that surrounds them.

Impact, adaptations & objectives

Impact to date

Our greatest impacts are:

  • The empowerment of communities through improved income
  • Technical support based on agricultural technology transfers
  • Training in good agricultural practices 
  • Environmental care. 

We impact more than 1000 producers. However, we know that there are more families and communities that are direct and indirect beneficiaries. 

Impact measuring

We measure impact and progress through our ethical methodology of sourcing and sustainable production, based on 6 fundamentals: (1) Know the Source, (2) Involve and Respect, (3) Empower Communities, (4) Preserve, protect and promote biodiversity, (5) Prioritize Green Energy and (6) Transparency (traceability). 

Each of these fundamentals have their own impact measurements, and the first three have their own objectives for each raw material.

We also have a tool for the elimination of poverty, "Stoplight", which measures and indicates where the multidimensional poverty is focused in the families. It seeks to activate their entrepreneurial potential through a technological tool that allows them to identify personalized strategies to solve their needs and improve their situation by drawing their life plan.

Size and/or structure

We initiated with a factory in Guatemala, with one product. Now we have a catalogue of products and have the structure capacity of our industry in Honduras and Paraguay. 

Key offerings

We initiated with the production of Patchouli, we move forward with cardamom; and made our catalogue grow with Peru Balsam, Styrax and Pink Peppercorn.  

Location

Our locations have grown; we initiated in Guatemala and now we work through Latin America. Also, our communities have developed networks providing us reach more families and communities. 

Target population

Year by year we have identified interest of more population and with that more issues we can work with together. Each community has its own culture and way to be, using Nelixia’s expertise we have adapted our projects culturally.

The Stoplight tool help us identify different social and economic issues in the communities.

To have a larger range of products to propose in production to our producers and thus be able to diversify their income.

Be the best class in production by impact positively in the environment with no risks and the no use of chemicals.
