Creamos was initiated in 2008 as a social entrepreneurship initiative for 20 women who had historically relied on collecting, recycling, reusing and reselling items scavenged in the garbage dump, in addition to other forms of risky work, to make a living. The organizational model of Colegio Impacto de MAIA obtains the best international educational practices, methodologies, structures and resources from high impact organizations and then contextualizes them. Our teaching model is influenced by educational organizations in the United States that are making significant changes with traditionally underserved populations. These teachings are contextualized and strengthened with the cultural identity of the Young Pioneers, allowing them to develop 21st century skills.

Friendship Bridge’s history began with its work in Vietnam providing medical education and shipping medical supplies to impoverished populations in war-ravaged areas. While medical supplies were positively impacting the lives of recipients, Friendship Bridge was looking for a more sustainable solution to poverty reduction — the solution was microcredit. In 1994, we shifted our focus from medical supplies to microcredit and began offering small loans to impoverished women.
We focus on the most vulnerable children by supporting them to break the cycle of poverty and leave this world a little better than we found it. Without being an organization with religious purposes, our work and our actions are inspired by the values of the Gospel and the Mayan culture.

The Asociación Nuevo Amanecer de Santiago Atitlán (ANADESA Association) was born as a result of the natural disaster caused by Hurricane Stan in October 2005, which severely hit the communities of Panabaj and Tzanchaj in the municipality of Santiago Atitlán. Currently the Association works in the development and service of rural communities in the municipality of Santiago Atitlán.
Enseña por Guatemala's theory of change is driven by the urgency of our mission to address educational inequity in the short term and building a network of inspired and empowered leaders dedicated to co-creating long-term solutions to address Guatemala's biggest needs. We recruit community leaders and professionals from diverse backgrounds and careers (including teachers and professionals from other fields) to teach full-time in classrooms in vulnerable areas of Guatemala for a period of two years.
Peronia Adolescente is an association legally constituted in 2004, working for a fairer reality for Guatemala. It facilitates spaces of integral formation, using games, art and alternative sports, promoting leadership and volunteering of adolescents and young people of scarce resources who are vulnerable in Ciudad Peronia.
World Renew is an organization that has worked for nearly 60 years to reduce malnutrition, poverty and disease worldwide. The Guatemala program focuses on food security, community health, economic opportunity and disaster response and preparedness, working with local partners through funding and capacity building to make progress in these program areas.
The Kateri Fund awards scholarships for Healthcare professionals, supports internships for recently graduated women so they can gain experience in their career, and supports self-generated projects for two women's groups in the Guatemalan Highlands.
Chajulense Mayan Association (AMACHAJUL) AMACHAJUL is a Guatemalan Mayan Ixil non-profit organization located in Chajul, Guatemala. The Ixil region is a post-conflict community that suffered an ethical cleansing during the 36-year internal armed conflict. Schools were closed for 36 years. Today there is deep poverty and few opportunities for women and girls to break out of the cycle.
We aim to contribute to the construction of a just and inclusive society by facilitating processes that enable and promote the empowerment of people with disabilities, their families, and their community to advocate for, demand, and fully exercise their rights.
