Mission, vision & values

Mission

Our mission is to improve the health of underserved communities in Guatemala and develop nurses to face global public health challenges by personalizing programs through trusted partnerships.

Vision

We work to build loyal friendships with communities, partners and guests.

Values
We value humble service, relationships, trust, respectful competence, safety, and hospitality.

Products, services, and programs

Services

We offer medical and women's health clinics and school health clinics. We provide support with construction and safer stove distributions.

Programs

We run a Global Health Exchange programme for advanced practice nurses, that are primarily from the USA. We also provide Community Empowerment programs and offer Health Education in the communities.

In addition to this, there is also a Diabetes and Hypertensive program as well as, our clinics as already mentioned above. Our clinics work in a way that can constitute as programs because we go back to the same communities and provide further follow up education for them.

Organizational detail

Founded:
2013
Number of employees:
0-10
Funding:
Private grants, Sale of products and/or services
Primary issue(s) / need(s) addressed

We address the lack of access to healthcare for rural and remote populations. The organization grew from what started as a nursing trip, and then expanded when communities asked for healthcare assistance.

Impact, adaptations & objectives

Impact to date

We have impacted 26,116 total beneficios with our initiatives including medical consults, school wellness clinics, stove programs and diabetes clinics. We have had 775 international nurses on practicum in Guatemala.

Impact measuring

How we measure our impact is currently being improved. Previously, it was completed manually of medical consultation sheets and we kept details of all patients, ages and conditions including the number of people impacted by other public health programs.

Organizational adaptations:
Size and/or structure, Key offerings, Funding model, Way in which you collaborate or work with others
Organizational adaptation details

Size and/or structure

We have organically grown with universities and communities.

Funding model

We previously were funded 50% by angel donor and 50% by program fees. Now (pre Covid) we need to find 50% general donations and 50% program fee because our angel donor's agreement is ending.

Way in which you collaborate or work with others

We used to rely on other NGO's to carryout administrative tasks and work with them to provide medical consults to their communities/populations.

Short term objectives

Quality

We will improve the quality of services while pivoting our mission due to Covid 19.

Long term objectives

Growth

We will increase the University programs which in turn will increase the number of people that we can support.

Quality

We will improve the quality of our programs. We will complete a QI data analysis and review all activities and community relationships.

Impact

We plan to have more community input to increase the impact to empowering communities with their health. We will work to improve nursing in Guatemala.
